Danielle & Martin’s Wedding 16th May 2013

Danielle and Martin’s wedding at The Langtry Manor, Bournemouth.

A small intimate wedding for Danielle and Martin today at The Langtry Manor. The weather was great, no sign of showers today.

Martin arrived with Alan his Best man and with a few arrival and family photographs it was time for him to see the registrar as Danielle’s arrival was imminent. The guests made their way towards the ceremony area so that no-one would see Danielle.

Danielle arrived in a 1931  Armstrong Siddeley with her Dad and as most Brides was a little nervous. With a few arrival photos she was ready to see the Registrars ahead of the ceremony.

Two cute little flower girls made their way into the ceremony ahead of Danielle accompanied by her Dad who was giving her away. Martin glanced towards his Bride and smiled as she made her way towards him. They made their declarations, vows and promises with sincerity and loud enough for everyone to hear, with rings exchanged and registers signed they made their way out into the afternoon sunshine for the drinks reception in the garden with their guests. With some formal family and Bride and Groom photographs taken in the gardens it was time for the us to leave and the wedding breakfast start.

We wish Danielle and Martin all the very best for their future together. We are busy preparing their images from the day so while we are doing this we hope you enjoy these few images.

Jennifer and Peter’s Wedding 12th May 2013

Jennifer and Peter’s Purbeck wedding at the fabulous Mortons House Hotel, Corfe Castle.

Our 3rd visit to Mortons House Hotel this week!!  A great venue, friendly staff and fabulous food. This time it was for the wedding of Jennifer and Peter, another really lovely couple.

Peter and his Best Man James arrived quite early and relaxed on the terrace with a drink ahead of the guest arrivals and ceremony. With final checks made Peter waited for the arrival of his Bride in the ceremony room

Jennifer made her entrance into the Oak Room on the arm of Richard to the guitar being played by her Brother Joshua, she looked stunning in her beautiful wedding dress.
Jennifer and Peter’s son Thomas had the important task of presenting the wedding rings on a cushion so that they could exchange rings symbolising their marriage.

After the ceremony the wedding party shunned the drizzle and made a dash outside for an overhead shot of everyone before we retreated back to the Oak Room for the formal group photos.

During the drinks reception Jennifer was keen for some Bride and Groom photos outside and braved the drizzly damp weather before being showered with confetti! We had to abandon the planned trip to the village and used the sheltered hotel courtyard and inside the hotel at the top of the staircase capturing the hotel’s charm.

We wish Jennifer and Peter all the very best for their future together. We are busy preparing their images from the day so while we are doing this we hope you enjoy these few images.

Mortons House Weddings Corfe Castle Dorset

Ruthie & Steve’s Wedding 11th May 2013

Our 2nd visit to the delightful Morton’s House Hotel in Corfe Castle this week, this time for Ruthie and Steve’s wedding.

The weather has changed over the last week and the day had started overcast and breezy, we were hoping that the rain would stay away.

Steve and Guy the Best Man arrived bright and early and seemed to be quite relaxed, think that sneaky tot helped!

Ruthie looked amazing in her dress and seemed a little nervous before the ceremony but as she made her entrance and saw Steve waiting for her she relaxed and enjoyed the ceremony, she didn’t stop smiling from that moment on. The ceremony was personalised with a reading from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, unusually it was recited from memory which made it all the more touching.

After the ceremony the couple were joined by their guests for photos including our much requested heart-shaped group photo in the courtyard. During the champagne drinks reception we disappeared for a short while into the village for some photos with the castle as a background. it was really quite breezy by now so we retreated back to the hotel for some shelter from the wind.

We enjoyed being part of Ruthie and Steve’s special day, such a lovely couple and so well suited. We hope they have a fabulous honeymoon and we wish them all the very best for their future together. We are busy preparing their images from the day so while we are doing this we hope you enjoy these few images.

Mortons House Hotel Wedding Photography 6th May 2013

On Bank Holiday Monday we had the pleasure of covering Elaine’s wedding over in the Purbecks at Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle, Dorset. The weather was glorious and Elaine looked stunning. The couple requested not to show any photos of the Groom for security reasons. We can assure you though that he did turn up looking very handsome in his uniform!

The ceremony was held in the oak panelled drawing room after which drinks and canapes were served on the terrace. We slipped away with the couple for a few photos on the church green with the castle in the background before returning them to their guests for the wedding breakfast.

We wish the newly married couple all the very best for their future together and hope that you enjoy these few photos of the Bride.

Katie and Graham’s Wedding Vintage Re-mix!

Guildhall Poole & Upton House Vintage Wedding Photography

Our policy has always been to use ‘digital effects’ sparingly throughout our work, using them to enhance not overpower an image. We see so many images with excessive proceesing, particularly using image editing presets which apply a certain look at the click of a mouse, regardless of whether it suits the image / subject / composition or not. Our most commonly used techniques during our everyday work are black and white / sepia conversions and some ‘skin softening / blemish removal particularly with close up portraits of our Brides and Grooms.

Whilst processing the images from Katie and Graham’s wedding for our blog I was keen to see how they would look with a ‘vintage’ feel as I knew how much effort Katie had put in to achieve this look. Both locations (Poole Guildhall and Upton House) the transport and Katie’s dress, veil and shoes all suited the effect I felt I could produce.

I used a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop to ‘age’ the images. Rather than convert all the images to sepia, I chose a ‘faded’ colour style which I think complimented them perfectly. By reducing the saturation and contrast and introducing a colour cast evocotive of a bygone era, the effect was complete.

The individual images are available to view at:

Katie & Graham’s Wedding 4th May 2013

Katie and Graham’s Wedding at The Guildhall, Poole and a visit to Upton House Country Park for their wedding photos.

The week leading up to Katie and Graham’s wedding had been the best weather of the year with warm days full of sunshine and we thought that it was going to spill over into their wedding day. The morning was overcast,  a little breezy with showers forecast and with an early wedding it didn’t seem that we were going to avoid them. Luckily other than a few a few ‘spits and spots’ the showers didn’t materialise and as the day progressed the weather improved.

Katie arrived in a vintage car from Austin-Beauford Wedding Cars and looked amazing in her beautiful vintage style wedding dress holding her bouquet that had been made by her Mum. As she made her way into the ceremony Graham turned to watch Katie walk towards him and with reassuring smiles they were ready for the ceremony.

After the ceremony the guests joined Katie and Graham for some family  photos before we left for Upton House Country Park for some Bride and Groom portraits.

We wish Katie and Graham all the very best for their future together. We are busy preparing their images from the day so while we are doing this we hope you enjoy these few images.
